Book Review: 925 Ideas to Help You Save Money…by Devin D. Thorpe

by M. J. Joachim

Clearly a book written to make the author money, this book is full of all the hot air you’d need to fly a massive hot air balloon over the city! Common sense aside, repetition is nothing if not repeated often. I agree family time is important, and it’s a good idea to save money by going to the library and park, but really? This is what Thorpe offers people who spend their hard earned dollars on this book?

“Go to the beach. Build a snowman. Visit grandma.” And these things will help you save money because you’re not at a store instead?

“Avoid debt.” Okay, that’s a good one, but while the book tells me to do it, it doesn’t tell me how to do it. I suppose this is where going to the beach and visiting grandma come in, right?

“Buy cheap cars. Get your kids to work like you did…assuming you worked hard your whole life and have nothing to show for it….”

I’ve got a better idea. If you want to save money, don’t spend it on gimmick books promising to help you save it without delivering. In other words, don’t buy this book!

There! I just saved you $7.49 for the paperback copy.

Here’s hoping you’re having a wonderful week,

M. J.
