Watching, Reading and Doing with Purpose

By M. J. Joachim
I’m on a roll today – 3rd post and counting…

Writing what sells, picking up on what works, listening to and hearing the audience, watching, reading and doing with purpose – these are the things that make us all better writers!

Then telling the story, our story, about how so many things have touched our lives, choosing the words carefully, based on those very influences that warned and cautioned us, baiting us just enough that we couldn’t stay away.

We are the writers of everything that moves us, everything that touches the essence of our souls, not to be buried in the depths of our subconscious, but to be shouted from the rooftops for all to read, hear and share.

Ours is a noble task, taking ordinary daily life events, okay some are anything but ordinary, this much is true, and breathing life into their telling, recording anything and everything, just because we can.

Take a tip from someone who despises the very inkling of suffering from writers block – write about everything! If you see a movie or read a book, write a review. If you serve a meal, write the scene, be it mundane, tedious, exploratory, delectable, sensuous or throwing fast food bags on the table.

Oh, but don’t just write about it. Put your heart and soul into it! Push the edge of your imagination and let it take you where it will. Don’t hold back on words – they’re all out there and they’re all available for you to use.

When you read, watch or do anything, let it speak to you. Read, watch and do things with the purpose of being a writer. Then let your words express who you are and what you are about on the page, inviting others to get to know you through the ever growing aspects of your very personality and soul.

Thank you for visiting Writing Tips,
