Writing Tips for A Day in the Life of a Writer

by M. J. Joachim
These are my responses to yesterday’s post, A Day in the Life of a Writer. You’ll want to open two windows for this and place them side by side. Just click on the link above. I’ve already set it to open in another window for you.

Facebook is a complete distraction and more often than not, creativity’s enemy.

Fresh air is good, even necessary. However, it doesn’t write your words.

Eat to live. Live to eat. Write to buy the food.

Chore schedule and daily maintenance – works like a charm!

Social networking is one of your business tasks. It does not meet the requirements for socializing in the real world.

Yes, read. By all means, READ. Just not when you’re supposed to be writing!

I suppose writing is hard work, but only if you’re actually doing it.

Until next time, I wish you every good thing.

Happy writing everybody,

M. J.

  1. I thought it was ironic but I started to read more since I decided I would write more.

    1. Yes, balance is so important, Tara. I agree. Facebook is ...facebook. I enjoy looking at family pics and stuff, since most of my family lives in other states.

  5. Why is it that after going a long while without reading, once I start writing again the procrastinator in me insists on doing as much reading as possible? LOL.

Great post! Thanks for coming by my blog.

    1. You must pick really good books, the kind you can't put down! That's not procrastination...that's great writing! :)

  6. I felt the same way about FB which is why I deleted my personal page and kept only my Magical Mystical Mimi fan page. FB is so time consuming but I think only because one comment leads to somebody elses comment and then somebody elses page and before you know it you're on Billy Bob's second cousin's mama's brother page and you have no idea how you got there or why! Lol..

    1. I don't have a fan page on Facebook - only personal...helps to keep in touch with family scattered all over the place. It's about the only way I'll get to see my nieces (who are mom's now) brag about their kids. Some of those pics are to die for! Cutest little ones I've ever seen! It's been a great way to keep in touch with distant family, since I'm the only one who lives in Arizona.
