Look what I
just found while hopping around the blogosphere!
Yippee! Yay!
Please excuse me while I backflip over the table!!!
Not that I
could actually do a backflip, but I certainly would if I could when I found
this nifty little badge!
Not only did
I enjoy reading Charmaine Clancy’s
latest post, I also was primed and ready to give her a huge thumb’s up on it,
all because I saw this little ditty in the sidebar!
(Thankfully, she wrote a really good post I enjoyed reading. Otherwise,
I would have had to edit the previous line out of my own post.)
As if that
weren’t enough, she posted right there beneath it:
I've given up trying to
comment on blogs with captcha/word verification. If you'd like this badge for
your blog, you're welcome to use it.
While I
doubt I’ll give up commenting on blogs with captcha, I do believe displaying
this badge all over the blogosphere might just send everyone a very positive
ripple effect throughout all of cyberspace. You know what happens then, don’t
you?
Comment Land
explodes with millions of happy bloggers, all because they leave and receive so
many wonderful comments!
Thank you
for visiting Writing Tips.
Please don’t
forget to leave a comment for me.

I agree with you 100 percent. I've been Captcha Free since the beginning.
ReplyDeleteIt was a bit of a learning curve for me. Someone really wanted to leave a comment way back when - tracked me down through email and told me they couldn't figure out the 12+ captcha letters after multiple tries. I had no idea they were even on, which I remedied at record speed, btw.
DeleteIt's very obvious that blogs with captcha have many less comment than those without. Today I commented on a blog which not only had captcha but told me I was being moderated as well - overkill, I thought.
ReplyDeleteAgreed!
DeleteSomeone else I follow has a badge similar. They will learn during the A to Z Challenge - very few comment on blogs with word verification then.
ReplyDeleteTakes too much time when you're trying to visit so many blogs. Still, I try to muddle through it, especially if I really like a post.
DeleteLOL, thanks for the compliment! Captcha is so painful, and I feel a little unwelcoming. I'll still visit those blogs, but I don't leave comments anymore. Here's hoping the move to drop word verification takes on!
ReplyDeleteYou've got that right!
DeleteI still comment, and grumble the entire time. I know that a few months ago there was a 'how to list or step by step process' on to go about stopping it on your blog. I honestly didn't know it was 'on' on my blog till I read that post -- I've got to find it and connect it to the badge. I still think there are lots of folks out there that don't know it active on their site, just as denying 'anonymous' comments (another item I stumbled on)!
ReplyDeleteDenying that anonymous is so important! So many people are getting spammed by those ones. I see them all the time and just want to leave a message for anonymous telling whoever it is how rude they're being.
DeleteI LOVE that badge! What a great idea. The letters on those verification thingies are barely discernible at times, and some of the numbers are itty bitty... and there can be as many as five or six of them. It takes three tries to get it right sometimes. At that point, it's almost not worth the effort.
ReplyDeleteHere's to the demise of the nefarious captcha!!! Thanks.
To the DEMISE, Susan!!! :)
DeleteI agree with Alex. During A-Z you just really don't have a lot of time to do the whole captcha thing and my biggest issue is when they have captcha AND comment moderation! I've said it a million times on my own blog, one or the other people..
ReplyDeleteOr nothing at all...a good virus protection and keeping up with your comments works just as well. Even if you get a nasty one, your followers will likely understand. Who knows? They may even come to bat for you and give that nasty gram message maker a thing or two to think about...as a community, it seems very likely, if you ask me.
DeleteThe problem with 'captcha' is the designers got to the point of idiocy, trying to read a number in the fog or RIDICULOUS smudged letters, making the designs unreadable. I won't even bother with captcha, period and unless I can read them immediately. I have NO captcha on IncomingBytes.com for the same reason.
ReplyDeleteEven with my glasses on, Raymond...even with my glasses on...an excuse to go get a fresh cup of hot coffee and nibble in the kitchen. Read the cutest post yesterday about writer's butt and someone entering a marathon, to make sure she didn't develop one from blogging...hahaha Wish I could remember who wrote it to share the link with everyone here...
DeleteLove it....got to have it....will display it proudly on my blog! :)
ReplyDeleteAnd the grassroots movement continues...yea! :)
